We will build Tajikistan through the pen, the voice, and reform!

Tajikistan under the rule of Rahmon’s family

After independence, Tajikistan was plunged into a civil war, and in 1992 Emomali Rahmon came to power. In 1997, under a peace agreement, he temporarily allowed the opposition to join the government, but later most of their leaders were killed, imprisoned, or forced into exile. In 2015, the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan was banned, and today all power is concentrated in the hands of Rahmon and his family.

Write, speak, rise — reform begins with you!
